Instagram

Instagram is an free app a new friend from school introduced me to while I was on surgery.  The idea behind it is supposed to be a way to make status updates via photos, but most people seem to use it more to try to showcase fun and good photography.  I caught on to this quickly, and was interested in the challenge of coming up with a routine influx of good photos to upload.  You know how good your doing by how many likes each photo gets and how many people follow you.  I have not put a lot of effort into getting followers, but I pick new ones up every few days.

I thought I'd share my 5 "best" photos (via number of likes) and my favorite users to follow.  I have some rules with my posts and likes...Iphone only (no PC/laptop programs), no filter overloads, and no underage girls who want to feel pretty...

racquelmishel: really into nature, sexuality, fashion photos.
probably rich california chick from what I can tell.  Very nice hair...

bradlutrell: found him through Louisville tags.  local photographer apparently.  cool stuff.
skwii: dont care for most of their stuff but this photo is cool!namidacross: Japanese photographer who loves minimalistic compositions...
raffiko: my 4th year friend who got me on the app.  His photos are almost all dedicated to LA, his home"town".  and they're good.twillyums: a random guy I found somehow early on.  from arizona and has a lot of outdoors photos dedicated to tuscon.
My current #1`... Trees outlying cherokee park, near Jenn's place. 14 likes
#2 Painted laies of san francisco from my september trip.  No I don't know who the people are. but the sky was pretty and the strangers were dressed well.
#3 sunset at fall cadaver ball, bowman field.  cheated a bit with a filter, but the likers don't mind I guess... 12 likes
#4 instagood got me a lot of these likes after it liked me.  Series of photos I took with Sai and AJ on a walk around our neighborhood.  Too many cute ones to choose from so had to picstitch it. 11 likes
#5 yes, my pumpkin was the best one I saw under the #pumpkin tag. spoookkyyyy pumpkin gets 10 likes.

A lot of people have consistent themes with their photos...but I just go with whatever happens to seem like a good composition at any given time.  Most of my photos are self portraits or of Sai.  Sometimes I find it pretty unpredictable what people will be more likely to like anyway.

iPhone4s

fuzzy self-portrait of me and the blog topic ---> ---> ---> camera plussed!

Kindly enough, my momma did get me the iPhone4s after my bday.  I'm enjoying it pretty thoroughly.

my $30 [target] case....thats already saved
this phone a dozen times probably.
New features (vs 4, not my crappy ol' 3g)...
1. SIRI
2. nice nice camera
3. better processor apparently.  Not that I can tell with ATT's 3g service.
4. I haven't started using iCloud yet...

Most used apps (besides the obvious)...
  1. [calendar] - my personal calendar, Chris' calendar, Jeff's calendar, my school calendar
  2. Instagram - i have been getting to writing a blog on this wonderfully addictive photography app..
  3. Camera+ - good $1 spent.
  4. [Reminders] - very awesome new default.  Remembering things better than I ever have before.  Also a perfect addition to go alongside Siri.  Anytime I just happen to think of something I need to do, I whip out my phone, hold the button and tell Siri, "remind me to do [this] when I get home."  Fantastic.
  5. The weather channel
  6. Ebay
  7. Facebook
  8. Pandora - until I decide I am ready to subscribe spotify.
  9. mooch - because I owe and am owed lots of $$$
  10. Pic stitch
  11. [Maps] - so essential yet I know so many people who take it for granted (Mom, Jeff).
  12. Epocrates
  13. iBooks - never buying a textbook ever again [heart]
  14. Mint.com - Very freaking important to keep track of.
  15. Wikipedia
  16. Yahoo! Sportacular - better than scorecenter
  17. G-Whizz! - mostly to get to google docs, previously reader, quickly
  18. Craigslist
  19. Latitude
  20. TV guide
  21. Walgreens - we scan our barcodes with our phones to get our refills.
  22. Groupon + LivingSocial
  23. yelp!
  24. then Saia's always got a multitude of apps that are getting pulled up every day
Siri is very impressive.  I have come to have high expectations.  I ask Siri a lot of things that you'd think it couldn't do.  The things I asked Siri that made me realize how amazing it is:
  1.  Tell me what this song is called.
  2. When is my dentist appointment?
  3. Where is the closest Indian restaurant?
  4. What is the weather tomorrow?
  5. What is the weather tomorrow in Baghdad?
  6. What does apple's stock cost? Should I buy a share? [I'm sorry, I cannot do that for you]
  7. How do I get to the closest notary?
  8. How do I get to Scissorhands salon?
  9. Tell Jeffrey Cornwell I'm going to get Isaiah.
  10. Wake me up in 30 minutes.
  11. What does rambunctious mean? [I found this for you: Wolfram Alfram article].
  12. Read my text message.
OK it goes on and on. It won't open apps though, which is lame. You tell it to open Pandora and it tells you Pandora's opening price.

Hope to catch up on all my blog plans soon.  On psych and have way more time than I know what to do with.  So much time that I can let myself procrastinate with all the things on my to-do list.  There's also a good chance I will finish buying things for Xmas before thanksgiving gets here.  So family- if you were going to make a list- better send it before its too late.  It might already be.

before its too late- our Hallloweeenn

Most of the joys can be told through photo as typical for me lately.  We were super broke this year and since Ive been into crafting anyway we decided to go for angry birds.

quick free costume for cadaver ball

pumpkin saia colored at school
Saia got to truly enjoy halloween this year.  Last year he was still an awkward walker and hadn't been completely exposed to candy yet.  We would've trick-or-treated last year but some of you may remember that instead he got his first stitch.

Huber's

His costume only cost $22! but about 6 hrs of labor i think.
trick or treat at the bats stadium

best pumpkin i've made in a while, maybe ever. cool

trick or treating with cous this year, and hopefully many to come!

completed costume.  I never completely secured the face pieces.  I haven't decided what to do with it for nest year.

i got to see saia doing some of his fun school stuff a day when I came in during vacation weeks.
